Let me give you some idea about Achilles tendinopathy or Achilles tendinitis (tendonitis) or Achilles tendon inflammation and their symptoms before I tell you about this achilles tendon case. According to the website of

Achilles tendinitis (tendonitis) or Achilles tendon inflammation, Hamilton, NZ

 Where is achilles tendon?

The achilles tendon connects the calf muscle to the heel bone. It is the largest tendon in the body and can endure great force, but is still susceptible to injury.

What is the function of achilles tendon?

It lets you rise up on your toes and push off when you walk or run.

What is the different between achilles tendinopathey, achilles tendinitis, achilles tendon inflammation and achilles tendinosis?

Achilles tendinopathy : We often use the term tendinopathey to include both tendinitis (tendonitis) and tendinosis.

Tendinitis: This actually means “inflammation” of the tendon." Achilles tendonitis or achilles tendon inflammation occurs when the tendon becomes inflamed, as a result of the achilles tendon being overuse and put under too much strain. But inflammation is rarely the cause of tendon pain.

Tendinosis. This refers to tiny tears (microtears) in the tissue in and around the tendon. These tears are caused by overuse. In most cases, Achilles tendon pain is the result of tendinosis, not tendinitis.

But many doctors may still use the term tendinitis (tendonitis) to describe a tendon injury.

Achilles tendinitis (tendonitis) is usually the result of strenuous, high impact exercise, such as running, therefore resting is important to achilles tendon pain. If you ignored it, Achilles tendinitis can lead to the tendon tearing or rupturing, therefore it is important to seek the necessary treatment.

Chirag has recently treated a patient who has dianosised Achilles tendinitis and had been Achilles tendon pain for the previous 3 or 4 months. The patient has been to a massage therapist and a physiotherapist. The physiotherapist gave the patient acupuncture on and around the Achilles tendon, on the painful area. But the pain persisted.

The pain and swelling were in the right side Achilles and originated through a running injury. The Achilles pain was worst while walking on a treadmill and was causing the patient to limp while walking. The pain level was 5/10 on resting and worse after walking or doing activities.

Chirag applied Dr Tan’s Balance Acupuncture Method on his left hand, and the patient experienced immediate relief of the pain in right side Achilles. The patient could then walk easily without any pain or limping after his first treatment.
